SCCM-Migrating form HTTP to HTTPS

Hi All, have you ever needed to migrate a SCCM 2012 (or Current Branch) environment from HTTP to HTTPS? if you have, you know that it is quite easy, but there are some challenges, when things go wrong, off course :)… The steps I normally take (and I hope I haven’t forgotten any :)) are: 1- Create the certificate Template (ConfigMgr Clients (if the workstation is not already in place), ConfigMgr IIS Servers and ConfigMgr DP Servers) 2- Request the certificates 3- on the IIS servers, change the bind to allow HTTPS port (default 443) and select the certificate 4- Export the Root CA (and any other CA) certificate and import it into SCCM. Note, do not force the SCCM to use PKI, instead, allow it to use HTTP or HTTPS.. 5- for each client, confirm that the Client Certificate is set to PKI (you can easily check the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CCM\HttpsState…

SCCM 2012: Application Catalog and Migration

Hi All, last week, i was helping a customer with their migration from SCCM 2012 R2 to SCCM 2012 R2 CU4. There were already many things that had happen, collection migration, etc.. but the consultant that was performing the migration, wasn’t able to finish the job, so, i was called in. During the migration, we migrated couple of clients to test the migration script/GPO and we noticed the application catalog (probably the most used feature for them) wasn’t returning any result, however, when my user was logged on, i was able to see the applications that were deployed to “All users” collection. Looking at the logs, i saw on the policy logs, that the user policy was always with “0” assignments and so, it was not bringing anything to the Application Catalog. I tried to reset the policy, reinstall the client but none of those things worked. Looking further, on…

SCCM 2012 R2 – Visual Studio 2013

Hi All, have you ever tried to install Visual Studio 2013 with SCCM 2012 R2? Well, a client of mine tried and it failed. the error he was getting was to install the user running the installer to the group Performance Log users. as you can imagine, the user running the action is SYSTEM… i have tested it with VS2012 Update 2 and the installer worked fine, and back in the company, we downloaded the new version (Update 3) and it was failing. once i did another test with Update 3 at home, it failed. because this, we had to create a script using psexec to be able to install the VS, but what does this script do? Simple, it create a local user and add it on the local administration group. it execute the vs installer via psexec as the created user once the installer is done, it removes…
